Avalanche reports increased development activity amid interest from game developers

The growth of the Avalanche ecosystem has been sporadic since the beginning of this year. The network’s growth has been attributed to increased development activity as interest from game developers mounts.

Avalanche network sees increased development activity

Avalanche is a layer-two blockchain that has grown in popularity over the past year. However, it seems the network is open for more growth this year, as seen in the expansion witnessed in the first few months of 2023.

Analysts have said that the number of active developers working within the Avalanche ecosystem across multiple contracts has increased above 60 in March. The number represented the highest year-over-year increase.

There was also a significant increase in demand for subnets within the Avalanche network. Subnets are a preferred scaling solution for the Avalanche blockchain. Subnets allow users to create and run their preferred blockchain networks. Data from Avalanche exploder shows around 56 subnets within the Avalanche blockchain.

Avalanche attracts much interest from game developers

The Avalanche ecosystem is seeing increased development activity because of interest from game developers. The GameFi industry is among the fastest-growing areas within the Avalanche ecosystem, and Avalanche is uniquely positioned to be at the center of this growth.

The Avalanche ecosystem has secured strategic partnerships with some of the largest players in the GameFi sector. These partnerships are set to boost the appeal of Avalanche within the play-to-earn industry.

Subnets are app-specific blockchains, and they can offer major incentives to gaming platforms. Subnets can play a strategic role in the blockchain gaming sector because they give the players more control over the infrastructure. For instance, those using subnets can also use a native token for the blockchain to pay transaction fees, which lowers the cost of laying such games.

In February 2023, Avalanche announced a partnership with Loco, a streaming platform based in India. The partnership focused on creating an NFT gaming marketplace known as Loco Legends. This marketplace was created using the Avalanche subnets.

Avalanche also secured a partnership deal with GREE, a gaming platform based in Japan. The partnership deal was secured earlier this month, with GREE choosing Avalanche as the blockchain to venture into the Web3 sector.

The blockchain games running on the Avalanche network have also seen significant growth. While this growth is positive for Avalanche, it is also good news for the entire NFT sector. The total NFT trading volumes on Avalanche climbed to around 17 million on March 18, the highest growth in one year.

Avalanche’s growing popularity can also be seen on social media platforms. The network received more mentions on crypto social channels. The weighted sentiment also increased, showing that investors are optimistic about the prospects of this coin.

Despite this growth, Avalanche is facing weaknesses in some areas. For instance, the number of daily active users on Avalanche dropped by 18% over the past week, which affected the trading activity as the transaction fees dipped by over 70%.
