Australia Zoo launches NFT collection to celebrate 20th anniversary

Australia Zoo has unveiled an NFT collection that will be used to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Wildlife Warriors. The launch of this NFT collection comes at the backdrop of many NFT drops across different industries.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have found a use case across many industries, including sports, social media, finance, art and now wildlife. Their increased popularity has been witnessed in the trading volumes that have remained high despite dips across the crypto space.

Australia Zoo launches NFT collection

Australia Zoo has announced it will be collaborating with Meadow Labs. Meadow Labs is a technology company based in Australia, and through this partnership, Australia Zoo is planning to release an NFT collection that contains a series of drops.

Each NFT dropped from the collection will feature an Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors animal. The NFTs will be generated randomly, giving utility to the holder. Every NFT will be 100% unique, adding more value to the buyer.

The NFTs have been created on the Algorand blockchain. Algorand is ranked as a carbon-negative blockchain where transaction fees charged on the network are converted to carbon offsets. The release of the Australia Zoo NFT will also mark the importance of raising funds to protect wildlife.

NFT collection will be available globally

This NFT collection will be available in all countries. The NFTs can be bought using fiat currency on MoonPay. This option will allow customers to buy the NFTs directly through the bespoke webstore, making the purchase process easy and accessible.

“At Australia Zoo, we’re always open to new ways that can help continue our Wildlife warriors mission. Any innovation that can help our conservation efforts, particularly one that shares our vision of protecting the planet, is something we’re thrilled to support. This green chain and new technology allows us a new avenue to continue to fight for the protection of our wildlife and wild places,” said Robert Irwin of Australia Zoo.

The CEO of Meadow Labs, Martin Kelly, said that the company was excited about this new partnership because it was the first step by Australia Zoo into the Web3 space. “This is just the beginning of a long-term partnership to create an NFT for a good movement that builds on ensuring we all have a sustainable future,.” he added.

As aforementioned, the NFT collection will be created on the Algorand blockchain. According to the head of communities, Australia at Algorand Foundation, Adriana Belotti, the partnership was within the network’s goals for sustainability. Belotti added that releasing these NFTs was in line with everyone’s vision to promote better wildlife for Australia.

“It’s important to highlight that fundraising via NFTs on a public blockchain also means that transactions are processed through a smart contract that automatically transfers 100 per cent of primary sales proceeds to Australia Zoo and that Algorand delivers that service with carbon neutrality. It’s good for the animals and our planet,” Belotti added.
