Web3 studio Overlord partners with game studio Revolving Games

Overlord, a Web3 gaming project, has announced a partnership deal with gaming studio Revolving Games. The latter is a project backed by the co-founder of Rockstar Games, Dan Houser. The partnership deal is aimed at helping Overlord develop a sci-fi video game.

The video game created through this partnership deal will exist within the Overlord ecosystem. The game will also feature colorful lizard non-fungible tokens, which will give utility to the holders and support robust tokenomics.

The co-founder of the Overlord project, Dom Smith, talked about the company’s plans for the video game that will be released through the collaboration. The game will span multiple planets and universes. The game will also be ranked as a “cross-chain from day zero.”

According to Smith, the game offered an immersive way of exploring the Overlord universe, allowing players to fight their way into interplanetary domination using their skills, strategy, and cunning abilities.

The game will be different from alien civilizations for the players. The players will encounter unique experiences through these civilizations, with every player operating within their own lore. The game will be filled with multiple resources and technological skills, with every game having unique skills that will help them overcome their enemies.

“Each species has their own motivation and skills, and due to their unique abundance of resources and technological advancements, have different styles of conquering their enemies,” Smith said.

The Overlord Web3 gaming strategy focuses on a unique gameplay experience, while the game economics come in second. Smith noted that the team was increasingly focused on its development and ensuring it gains mainstream adoption once it enters the market.

Blockchain has to be invisible

Smith noted that the game would enjoy the immense benefits of blockchain technology. The players will enjoy all the benefits that come from asset ownership. Additionally, the on-chain dynamics will guarantee that the players enjoy a timely experience without being hindered by the challenges of understanding blockchain dynamics. Smith said the goal was to create an “invisible” blockchain experience for players.

In February, Overlord announced a partnership with Stoopid Buddy Studios, which actor Seth Green founded. Overlord and Seth Green worked on creating an animated series inspired by the Creepz Lizard NFTs that were released in January this year on the Ethereum blockchain.

The NFTs in the collection have generated more than 35,800 ETH in the total volume traded, worth around $65 million at the current prices. According to Revolving Games, Overlord would use its technology for the Creepz game.

Revolving Games said it would offer the tools and tech needed by Overlord for the game’s development. The Overlord game deck also says that the Creepz NFT collection would also comprise several celebrity owners, such as Seth Green, and musicians, such as Sia and Steve Aoki. The other owners include FaZe Banks and Elijah Wood.
