Web3 gaming startup Ultra to launch Ultra Games marketplace

Ultra, one of the most popular Web3 gaming startups, plans to release its Ultra Games marketplace. The marketplace will allow users to resell the digital items they bought through a secondary marketplace.

Ultra to launch Ultra Games marketplace

The Ultra Games marketplace will be released on April 25 and created on the Ultra layer one network forked from the EOS blockchain. The Ultra gaming ecosystem has rapidly grown following the release of products such as Ultra Wallet, an NFT marketplace and esports platform.

The Ultra Games marketplace will feature around 60 or 70 titles and Web3 games such as Cross the Ages, Ethernity, and MARS4. The platform will also comprise Web2 games without NFTs or cryptocurrencies. These traditional Web2 games include Lords of the Fallen and The Walking Dead: The Telltale definitive Series.

Because of the tokenized license rights, Ultra Games will allow players to resell their purchased items using the Uniq marketplace. The game publishers can choose to get out of the program. The co-CEO of Ultra, Nicolas Gilot, said there was enough reason game studios supported the secondary sale of games.

Gilot explained that studios could create an initial no-resale period after the launch. This period could determine the minimum resale value and choose the royalty percentage that would be automatically received.

Ultra Games will give freedom to game publishers

Ultra Games will give freedom to game publishers. It will allow them to experiment with the new model, but this comes with a limitation, such as the royalty fee paid to the publisher not exceeding 70% of the resale value.

Gilot further said that game developers and publishers would have more freedom to experiment with their business models than traditional digital game stores such as Steam which banned Web3 games. Game publishers will use a proof-of-ownership feature as games become more tokenized.

Ultra Games will also be accessible to gamers not conversant with the Web3 industry. Users can sign up using their emails and phone numbers. Crypto features such as the wallet address have been concealed behind a user-friendly interface, and users can obtain the details upon request. Moreover, Ultra Games will not charge network gas fees on transactions.

Gilot also said that Ultra Games was created to support NFT projects from game developers and publishers. The platform will release digital collectibles known as Uniqs. These collectibles can be created in the same way as tokenized game licenses.

“You can create some cool business models around it. Instead of being against people reselling, they can embrace it and actually benefit from it at the same time. You are providing a better end solution for gamers and earning from that – and not just leaving money on the table for hackers or whatnot,” Gilot added.

Ultra Games combines the features and capabilities of Web2 and Web3 games to guarantee success. According to Gilot, industry partners at Ultra would entice more gaming projects to participate.
