Ubisoft Drops Hint About New Blockchain Game During Paris Event

Ubisoft is getting closer to launching its first blockchain-powered game after the release of the initial gameplay preview for Champion Tactics Grimoria in the Paris Blockchain Week.

The RPG enables players to create blockchain figurines with special characteristics and features that can be grouped into teams of three for the tactical game.

The game boasts Top-Tier Animations And Graphics

The game has the feel and polish of a Ubisoft game, with top-tier animations and graphics that enhance the gaming experience. Players will have to discover which hero combinations work well together and counter the choices of other players.

Nicolas Pouard the vice president of Ubisoft Strategic Innovation Lab stated that the studio has chosen a cautious approach in creating a blockchain title. He added that it had embraced a unique strategy from other creators developing blockchain-based games. The studio developed a universe built around the assets and NFTs that are fundamental to the title. The game is based on champion figurines with different abilities and skills.

Pouard also stated that Ubisoft was not particularly interested in introducing a game for financial gain. The studio wanted to prove that it could launch a top-tier Web3 game that offers players genuine possession of digital assets.

Oasys also revealed a new partnership with LayerZero, the multi-chain interoperability protocol. This indicates a major achievement in the company’s 2024 Dragon Update, which concentrates on boosting interoperability throughout its gaming landscape.

A New Whitelist Was Introduced For Potential Players To Create Figurines

Ubisoft and Oasys, the blockchain gaming platform that Ubisoft had used for the title, presented the gameplay to visitors in Paris. The two studios also introduce a fresh whitelist that allows potential players to start creating figurines for their champions line-up.

Ubisoft is a video game developer located in France. Its headquarters is situated in Saint-Mandé with global development studios. Its video game series include Watch Dogs, Tom Clancy’s, Rayman, Rabbids, Prince of Persia, Just Dance, For Honor, Far Cry, and Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft went public with its initial public offering in 1996 and secured more than US$80 million in funding to grow the company. In two years, the firm established global studios in Milan (1998), Montreal (1997), Shanghai (1996), and Annecy (1996).

In July 2013 the company announced that its network had been breached. This led to the possible exposure of about 58 million accounts with encrypted passwords, email addresses, and usernames.
