The inventor of The Sims brings $6M for crypto games

Gallium Studios, a separate game studio established by experienced professionals Lauren Elliott and Will Wright, has received $6M in funding to support its Web3 aspirations. According to VentureBeat, the company will create virtual environment games operated by public blockchains with funding from gaming-focused investment firm Griffin Gaming Partners.

According to the study, the publisher’s first blockchain-powered initiatives are VoxVerse, the virtual world powered by NFTs for Gala Games’ VOX Collectibles that Wright is constructing for Gala Games, and Proxi, the group’s strategic item, which seems to be a memory virtual environment videogame.

Wright seems to be a videogames legend, best known for creating the pioneering computer games The Sims and Sim City for Maxis. He got out of Maxis after working there for 20 years in 2009.

Elliott generated “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” a game that was later turned into a Netflix series. Gallium, co-founded in 2015, plans to include blockchain and artificial intelligence into creator-owned game mechanics.

In a declaration, Elliott informed VentureBeat that perhaps the two methods could operate together to realize Wright’s aspiration of keeping customers at the center of the design process.

Proxi was first revealed in 2018, marking Wright’s first video game in a couple of years since the release of Spore in 2008. Whereas machine learning is essential in Proxi, this video game also employs NFTs to enhance player perspectives.

Gallium Studios held a Proxi coin pre-sale steadily for the past September together with crypto small business Forte, which helped raise $725M in November only. Griffin Gaming Partners is another shareholder in Forte.

What about the NFT whales?

Gallium Studio’s latest funding will supposedly be used to broaden its group, form alliances, and provide more virtual environment adventures. Gallium already has gaming experts from famous companies like Pixar, Blizzard Entertainment, and Electronic Arts on its team.

Wright informed VentureBeat that although operating on VoxVerse, he gained extensive knowledge about cryptocurrency. The majority of Proxi’s motivation comes from dystopian fiction. He proposed that the game portray users’ experiences in childhood, university, or jobs, which they could rectify.

While Wright is thrilled to be collaborating at the frontline of innovative technologies, he has concerns about the excitement surrounding NFTs. He stated publicly that blockchain enables people to preserve safe authority over their material, but he also stated that his production company suffered with the NFT whales. Those people weren’t engaged in the underpinning games and bought up resources intending to sell them at a better price.

Wright believes huge organizations aren’t essential for productivity and anticipates the production company to expand from 20 to approximately 60 employees. Proxi and VoxVerse do not yet have a launch date.
