Sorare, a fantasy NFT soccer game based on the Ethereum blockchain, recently signed soccer star Kylian Mbappe as its first player ambassador. The secondary sales of the game’s NFT player cards have been on an uptrend since then.

Sorare released its announcement on Wednesday detailing its partnership with Mbappe. Mbappe, a forward at Paris Saint-German, will now be an investor and global ambassador for Sorare.

Sorare has also pledged a commitment towards supporting Mbappe’s charity organization known as Inspired by KM. this is the first time that the soccer star is getting involved in the Webv3 sector.

According to data from CryptoSlam, the Sorare NFTs have witnessed a notable gain in trading on the secondary NFT market. During the past 24 hours, the platform has recorded more than $6.6 million worth of NFT sales. This is a 795% increase within just 24 hours.

The Sorare NFT sales within the period were more than any other project tracked by CryptoSlam, and it still holds this top position. CryptoPunks and NBA Top Shot are the first and the second runners-up.

NFTs have become increasingly popular over the past year, especially in sports. In 2021, the overall NFT market reached $25 billion in trading volumes, with sports collectibles such as the NBA Top Shot becoming some of the most popular NFTs.

Sorare is an NFT-based game. NFTs on the platform are used to represent player cards. Users can acquire the cards depicting real-life players from over 250 international teams and then use these cards to create weekly lineups.

Players within this game earn rewards depending on their performance of these players in the real world. Sorare supports many active leagues, and it has rewards that are given to winners in the form of Ether (ETH) and NFTs.

Sorare has over 2 million users, and the data from CryptoSlam shows that the NFT trading volumes from the platform stand at $350 million. Sorare secured $680M in a Series B funding round at a valuation of $4.3 billion. Some of the top-notch investors on the platform include Serena Williams and Gerard Pique.
