Saatchi Art To Unveiled Jury-Curated NFT Photography Auction

Famous online art gallery Saatchi Art has unveiled Visions of the Future – a jury-curated exhibition that doubles up as an active auction of NFT photography. The auction will comprise 50 fine art photographers and open in August 2022. This project is the gallery’s second major endeavor in the nonfungible token sector so far.

Visions of the Future comes after Saatchi Art’s first NFT collection dubbed The Other Avatars. Interestingly, that first NFT collection, consisting of handmade art from 154 artists, sold out within 20 minutes. Today, the gallery is looking for a new batch of artists aiming to explore the new theme. Essentially, the new auction and exhibition will feature different works by artists that explore various ideas of the future.

The submission period for photographers started on June 20 and continues until July 25. After that, there is expected to be a week-long curation period. Eventually, the auction preview for The Other Avatars NFT holders will happen before the public auction opens in early August.

Senior Manager of Digital Art and NFTs at Saatchi Art, Capucine Jenkins, spoke on the benefits of artists during periods of change. She stated while explaining why Saatchi Art wanted to highlight the work:

“Artists have always been at the forefront of cultural and technological shifts.”

To help curate the choice of NFT photography, Saatchi Art put together a jury of world-class creative and thought leaders. Not chosen only from the fine art photography space, but also from NFTs. While working together, the jury chose works by 50 artists for the auction. Jury members include:

• Capucine Jenkins (Senior Manager of Digital Art and NFTs, Saatchi Art)
• Monty Preston (Curator; Creative Director, The Other Avatars)
• Colborn Bell (Co-Founder & Director, the Museum of Crypto Art)
• Miss Aniela (Fine art photographer)

Saatchi Art Incorporates Phygital Art Experience

Another integral part of the project has been highlighted as the phygital (physical and digital) art experience for all the participating NFT collectors. In that context, Saatchi Art is producing a physical exclusive and limited edition of three for each artwork featuring in the auction. Particularly, Bay Photo will produce and frame all these prints.

For every NFT in the Auction, one of the three editions will be readily redeemable by the auction winner. In the meantime, the other two editions will be made available up to the end of 2022. This will target anybody who buys the NFTs later on when they become available on the secondary market.

With everything put into consideration, Visions of the Future will work as a wonderful showcase for some great NFT photography, and the artists developing it. While this industry of NFTs still majorly goes under the radar, it has a growing community of creators and collectors that support it.
