Runestone Airdrops Rewards to Over 112,000 Bitcoin Wallets

The highly-anticipated Runestone airdrop happened in mid-May, and it saw Ordinal inscriptions being sent to more than 112,000 Bitcoin wallets.

At the time, the protocol distributed 112,383 Runestones. Those who qualified for this airdrop had to go to the Runestone Bitcoin Ordinals platform, provide their wallet address, and sort the results to access the rewards.

This offering came at a time when airdrops were a major sensation in the cryptocurrency industry. The current bull market has been marked by massive airdrops across multiple chains. The Ordinals protocol has made it easier for users of the Bitcoin blockchain to access blockchain rewards due to increased utility.

Rewarding Bitcoin Ordinal Users with Runestones

The Runestone platform announced that this airdrop sought to reward the Ordinals community on their first anniversary. The companies that are part of the Ordinals ecosystem donated funds and engineering resources to make last month’s airdrop a reality.

According to the Ordi account on Twitter, the users that can mine and distribute Runestones are those that have spent one year on the Ordinals platform. The airdrop rewards will be distributed to users in 81 different batches of 1,400 over the next 48 hours.

Runestones opined that those who earned rewards were those who showed up and participated in the Ordinals’ platform when other people did not. This is why the presale is only available to Runestone users who have stuck with the platform for the past year. The platform further noted that the airdrop did not include a presale or a team allocation.

The Runestone team believes the platform will use an extensive airdrop approach. The team says that the largest meme coin in the world needs to be distributed using a free airdrop and it should not have any allocations to the team. Instead, the community was the priority.

Runestone Users Can Trade Airdrop Rewards on the Secondary Market

Some key blockchain projects have worked together on making this airdrop a reality. Among the projects that partnered with Runestone is Ordinalsbots. Ordinalsbots worked on executing the rest of the inscription airdrop by Runestone.

Runestone has also announced plans to have users sell their airdrop rewards on the secondary market. Some of the Ordinals marketplaces include Magic Eden and the Ordinals wallet. These NFT marketplaces will be used to index Runestone inscriptions and allow trading on the secondary market.

According to the Runestone team, there was no problem with people selling their Runestone. Depending on the circumstances, a person had the right to buy or sell their Runestone to fulfill their investment need.

The Runestone is playing a major role in the growing popularity of the Bitcoin Ordinals platform. In March, it achieved the largest ordinal inscription with a block size of 3.97 MB, and it has already launched for auction. The winning bid for The Runestone at the time was set at 63,140,674, equivalent to 8 BTC.
