Ordz Games Unveils Blockchain-Powered Handheld Device BitBoy

Ordz Games, a startup firm based in Hong Kong, has rolled out BitBoy, a portable gaming device that merges Bitcoin with retro gaming.

BitBoy, created by entrepreneur “z3th” of Ordz Games, honors the legendary Nintendo Game Boy of 1989 with its unique transparent orange case. Beyond its old-school design, BitBoy introduces the idea of a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DEPIN), designed to boost web3 gaming experiences.

BitBoy Functions As A Secure Hardware Wallet For Handling Bitcoin Possessions

The device gives players the chance to receive Bitcoin rewards while engaging in classic vintage-style games.

Bitboy will serve as a safe hardware wallet for handling Bitcoin possessions, providing an all-in-one gaming experience to users. It also supports NFC for upcoming trading card games. The tool will facilitate physical-digital integration experiences such as scanning trading cards for in-device gameplay. This will seamlessly blend the digital and physical gaming worlds.

The device enables multiplayer gaming through WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Players will be allowed to receive airdrops and points easily in the DEPIN network accompanied by its simple mining capabilities.

BitBoy also unveils a feature that allows games to be inscribed directly on the Bitcoin network via Ordinals –  a technique for generating Bitcoin NFTs. This provides a fresh way to incorporate digital currency technology in gaming hardware.

The device exists both virtually and physically. Each device includes a one-to-one 3D representation of the physical device via ordinal inscriptions. These can be observed through a virtual reality headset such as the Apple Vision Pro. It will be available for play on the project’s platform.

Players Can Control Wallets From Within BitBoy

Ordinals provide a method to craft Bitcoin NFTs by connecting data like videos, images, and more to a single satoshi on the primary Bitcoin blockchain. They were introduced on the Bitcoin mainnet last year by producer Casey Rodarmor. Merging the hardware, an ordinal, with this digital asset looked like a smart idea to z3th.

Options vary from HTML games to blockchain-based ROM and emulators. Certainly, Ordz Games will likely need to develop a legal plan for handling Nintendo, which may not approve the ROM/emulator feature.

BitBoy can also play any vintage game from before the PlayStation 1 era through off-chain emulation, which is monitored and synchronized with the cloud to earn NFTs and tokens.

The company stated that BitBoy is more than just a Retro gaming enthusiast’s ideal portable device. It also serves as a fully operational hardware wallet that supports well-known Bitcoin wallet applications like Oyl, Unisat, and Xverse wallets. Players can then control wallets from within the BitBoy to swap, trade, collect, and earn directly from the device.
