OKX and Manchester City Team Up for NFT Jersey Shirts

Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has partnered with popular soccer club Manchester City to launch the “Unseen City Shirts” campaign.

The campaign will feature commemorative football shirts that can be minted as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This project will allow fans around the world to gather digital versions of football shirts via the official app of the OKX cryptocurrency exchange.

The fans who purchase these NFT jersey shirts will also have a chance to redeem them for exclusive rewards.

Bolstering Fan Engagement

The first shirt that will be part of this collection is known as “The Roses and the Bees.” The shirt will pay tribute to some of the most popular symbols of Manchester such as the Lancashire Rose and the Manchester Worker Bee.

The digital NFTs have been created by an artist known as Christian Jeffery, and they will be among the two distinct designs that fans can access. Fans have been given until April 25 to mint the Unseen City Shirts through the OKX Web3 marketplace within the application.

Every NFT shirt will have a unique rarity level ranging from Classic, Rare, and Ultra Rare. The rarity level of the NFT will determine the rewards that a fan will receive after redeeming.

The Ultra Rare NFTs will have the best rewards. The fans holding these NFTs have a chance at a play-on-pitch experience. They can also win tickets to a Manchester City match or a limited edition of the physical version of the shirt.

The rare collectibles can be redeemed for a stadium tour, hospitality ticket, or a limited-edition shirt while the classic collectibles will be more available to fans and will not feature any additional rewards.

Using Web3 to Bolster Fan Interactions

The OKX exchange is working with the soccer club to bolster fan interactions. These NFTs will be accessible to die-hard fans of the club and allow them to have a personalized experience.

The Chief Marketing & Fan Experience Officer at Manchester City, Nuria Tarré, opined that Web3 and the metaverse had a crucial role to play in improving fan engagement. Digital collectibles and the metaverse allow fans to access more offerings in the industry.

“The metaverse and Web3 are part of our innovative technology strategy and provide an exciting opportunity as we continue to offer touchpoints for fans in this emerging space, with digital collectible drops and metaverse-based experiences launched in recent years by the club,” Tarré said.

Launching NFTs aims to create a better way of engaging with fans using digital platforms. This offering will guarantee that fans have a better way of connecting with the club. OKX and Manchester City are also setting new standards to bolster fan engagement and blend soccer with Web3 technology.
