National Football League Welcomes More NFT Partnership With Polygon

The National Football League (NFL) has continued its interest in the non-fungible tokens (NFT) space with the launch of a series of card-themed collectibles. The collection shall be hosted live on the league’s Polygon-themed marketplace, which was launched in November last year.

The League’s NFT Platform Is Still In Its Test and Learn” Phase

However, the league noted that its official NFT platform is still in its “test and learn” phase, although it has seen increased interest since it was launched. The marketplace has already been used for promotions of various playoff game ticketing.

One of the league’s representatives noted that more than 500,000 NFTs linked to the ticket purchases have been distributed since the launch of the marketplace. Of these numbers, 201,000 directly interacted with their owner, which represents 42% of the entire number considered by the league management as a good engagement.

“Those are just the ones we gave out for free, so we were impressed by the engagement numbers for sure,” the director of club business development for NFL, Sam Rubinriot, stated. He added that several NFTs were sold within 24 hours of their release. It shows the level of interests fans have placed on NFTs and the league’s management is prepared for more fan engagement through various partnerships.

NFL To Engage In More Partnerships In the Future

Rubinriot stated that there are bigger plans for the upcoming season. At one point NFTs for the initial “regular Season Clubs” were sold for thousands of dollars apiece. However, the prices for the more popular teams have dropped significantly to an average of $400.

The NFL has been testing the NFT space for some time, so it won’t come as a surprise with the Polygon-based marketplace. One of the most notable partnerships was with NBA Top Shop maker Dapper Labs for the launch of NFL All Day. Both All Day and Top Shot are built on the Flow blockchain.

Although the league’s blockchain partnerships can be considered as still developing, it has seen increased movements in cryptocurrency endorsements and fan tokens in recent weeks. The players association is also enjoying some level of partnerships, which shows there is room for even more relationships with NFTs within the National football league.
