Mythical Games unveils NFT player packs ahead of the Super Bowl LVII

Mythical Games, a Web3 gaming studio, is planning to release new non-fungible token (NFT) player packs. These NFTs will be available in the NFL Rivals game ahead of the Super Bowl LVII starting Sunday. The initiative comes as the Super Bowl announced it would not support crypto advertisements.

Mythical Games releases NFT player packs

The collection of these NFT player cards will include 22 National Football League players from the two teams that will be part of the largest football event slated to happen this month.

Some iconic players featured in these player cards include the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Gamers can use these popular player cards within the esports game after officially being released on mobile devices towards the end of this year.

The executive producer of NFL Rivals, Billy Schautz, commented on this development saying that Web3 technologies presented a unique opportunity for football players to interact with their favorite players within the game. He added that the Rivals team was interested in allowing fans to interact during the Super Bowl LVII.

“Ahead of the biggest day in sports, the Rivals team is excited to allow fans to get their hands on Super Bowl LVII Rivals player cards, to build their team rosters with and use as their players in the game,” Schautz said.

Mythical Games is planning to gain traction from the hype surrounding its soon-to-be-launched game that also features new player cards. The presale for the same is already open and will be available to the players holding the unique Rarity League collection on Thursday. A public sale will later follow the sale on Friday.

The NFT collection features 1000 NFTs unique to Super Bowl players. The NFTs will be sold in batches of three, retailing at $49. Mythical Games plans to use these cards to promote interaction between the fans and the players.

Super Bowl bans cryptocurrency advertisements

The bearish sentiment witnessed last year has painted a gloomy outlook in the cryptocurrency market. The values of digital assets have plunged significantly during the year. Moreover, there has also been a notable drop in the values of NFTs, which has led to brands disassociating themselves from the industry.

Last year, there was a series of crypto advertisements during the Super Bowl, with some fans receiving free cryptocurrencies. However, crypto and the Super Bowl are not on good terms this year, with the event seeking to avoid being held liable for losses amid the failures of crypto firms last year, including the exchange giant FTX.

On Tuesday, Fox Sports said the network would not air any crypto commercials during the Super Bowl. Super Bowl commercials are usually costly, and despite last year’s bear market, some crypto firms were lining up to advertise their products. This includes Limit Break, which was planning an NFT giveaway during the event.
