More Than Gamers Web3 gaming platform fails to fulfill goals despite investments

The More Than Gamers Web3 gaming ecosystem was unveiled in December 2021. Esports enthusiasts created the project, and it sought to create a unique Web3 gaming experience for pro gamers. The founding team for this project claimed to have extensive experience in Web3 gaming, and it also raised millions from a successful NFT mint. However, users are concerned that this project might have been a rug pull.

More Than Gamers project accused of rug pull

When More Than Gamers was introduced into the market, it looked like a promising project and attracted much interest in the sector. However, more than one year later, the founders of this gaming project left the project, with the community wondering what the next step for this project was and whether they would get any returns from the money they had invested.

The More Than Gamers project attracted much interest from renowned YouTube personalities, esports leaders, and streamers. Some of the renowned faces that joined the project include the CEO of esports league Team New Age, Aaron Kirshenberg, esports manager Nicholas Amos, and the head of marketing, Michael Padilla.

The team behind this project created a 10,000 edition NFT profile picture collection comprising 3D characters that would fight for survival within the Gamers Metaverse. The project launched the mint for the first 7,000 NFTs in this collection.

The NFTs were listed for 0.2ETH, valued at around $822. The NFT collection was sold out in a few seconds, generating around $5.7 million worth of initial sales. An additional 3,000 tokens were listed the following day, with the total profits generated from this mint being around $8.2 million.

This project has gained much attention from gamers and collectors, which resulted in a notable increase in sales for the NFT collection in the secondary market. When this project was in its early days, one of the rare “Legendary Gamer” NFTs was sold for 27.5ETH, worth around $102,500.

Issues with the early roadmap

The founding team behind this project raised much hype about the initiative. The team was comprised of experts in the industry that drove this hype. As the MTG team awaited the release of this NFT collection, the team engaged in strategic advertising for the project and used flashy marketing videos supported on multiple accounts.

The team used successful marketing strategies and partnerships using deals from some of the most influential people. During the early days of this project, there were signs that the project would bud and be a success.

Two months after this mint was completed, the project announced that one of its founders, TFG, would resign, raising questions about the direction of this project.

One of the MTG community members said that TFH’s departure confused the community. There was no trustworthy owner behind the project, and the promised collaborations were yet to be delivered.
