Immutable And Polygon Team Up To Create A $100 Million Fund Dedicated To Gaming

Polygon Labs and Immutable have announced a strategic partnership with VC company King River Capital.

The partnership is to roll out a $100 million blockchain gaming investment fund dubbed the Inevitable Games Fund. The two gaming giants were the teams that created a pair of leading Ethereum scaling networks.

The alliance has already received a principal pledge from Abu Dhabi’s Alpha Wave Ventures. Some other major contributors include Sandeep Nailwal Polygon Labs co-founder, Immutable co-founders Robbie Ferguson and James, and Merit Circle, the crypto gaming community.

The Fund Aims To Support Innovative And Promising Gaming Projects

According to a report, King River Capital and Immutable are mainly leading the fund, with Polygon Labs offering important sourcing along with industry expertise.

The Inevitable Games Fund has successfully financed seven projects, with four announced recently. They include Battle My Pet Hooligan a royale shooter game, Guild of Guardians Immutable’s own mobile role-playing game, mech shooter MetalCore, and monster-battling game Pixelmon.

Studio369, the independent game developer that created MetalCore, the Ethereum action game recently announced that it has secured $5 million in fresh funding. The purpose of this funding is to introduce the PC game on the Immutable zkEVM scaling network. The team has ambitious goals for the near future. MetalCore is scheduled to debut in open beta later this year, allowing everyone to dive in and engage in the blend of Boots-on-the-battlefield action and mech suit battle.

Polygon Labs Strives To Enhance Media Visualization For The Media Industry

The press release indicates that among all projects, My Pet Hooligan is developing Immutable’s Ethereum scaling networks while using Polygon.

Despite the initial focus on partners’ own combined stable of games, the announcement indicates that the funds will support games across Web3 infrastructure irrespective of the platform.

Zeb Rice, the co-founder and Managing Partner at King River Capital, highlighted that spending on video games surpassed the global income from music, streaming TV, and the movie industries.

He further stated that this revolution is poised for a huge shift in Web3 technology. The funds offer opportunities for investors to gain unique access to top-notch Web3 gaming projects worldwide.

This isn’t the first time Polygon and Immutable, usually competitors in the Ethereum scaling network, have collaborated. In the previous year, the firms collaborated to establish the Immutable zkEVM scaling space, which is built on Polygon’s zkEVM technology.

Polygon Labs is a software solution and creative services firm, specializing in content visualization and engaging data for the Media Industry. The firm develops and designs some of the most active virtual collaboration, real-time graphics solutions, data visualizations, and mixed reality.
