Gunzilla Gathers $30 Million Investment For Upcoming ‘Off The Grid’ Launch

Gunzilla Games recently announced that it has secured $30 million in financing. The purpose of this funding is to assist in the creation and launch of its highly awaited game, ‘Off The Grid’, a cyberpunk-style battle royale shooter game. The financing will also support the development of its Avalanche blockchain platform GUNZ.

The Funding Will Support Marketing Strategies For The Game’s Debut

The financing round was jointly headed by Avalanche’s Blizzard Fund and CoinFund, with involvement from Morningstar Ventures and Republic Capital. The combined funding comprised a $10 million planned token round, together with validator and equity sales that were not revealed earlier.

The most recent financing will be utilized in part to support marketing plans for the game’s debut and also to boost the development of the GUNZ platform. In 2022, Gunzilla previously secured $46 million.

Off the Grid will be launched across Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game will include blockchain-based possession of exclusive game assets through Avalanche NFTs. It is also running its own Avalanche subnet known as GUNZ to not just fuel its platform, but also for other game creators to develop on.

The Chief Executive Officer of Gunzilla Games, Vlad Korolov, stated that with the upcoming release of GUNZ and Off The Grid to the public, the studio is not just moving towards a new vista in AAA gaming. But it’s also creating a new benchmark in the blockchain ecosystem.

Gunzilla Games Seeks To Revolutionize The Gaming Experience With Off The Grid

The release date for Off the Grid is yet to be revealed, but the team mentioned to Decrypt’s GG that it will be announced during an upcoming event and that the game will be introduced across all platforms simultaneously.

It remains uncertain regarding the approach to how Gunzilla Games will manage NFT asset ownership on console platforms such as Xbox and PlayStation, which haven’t supported Web3 elements in games.

The team informed Decrypt’s GG that they are not ready to reveal all the inner workings and prefer to keep the details of these mechanics confidential until the game’s official release. This decision not only safeguards their unique ‘secret sauce’ from competitors but also aligns with their dedication to offering unparalleled quality gameplay to their primary audience of traditional gamers.

Off the Grid features the innovative idea of film director Neill Blomkamp, known for “Chappie” and “District 9” who serves as Gunzilla’s co-founder and chief creative officer. Distinguishing itself from average battle royale shooters (aka Fortnite), the game will also include additional storytelling, with some 60 hours of narrative guaranteed throughout various in-game seasons.
