Coca-Cola, one of the most popular beverage companies globally, has announced the launch of a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) dubbed the Pride series. This collection will be used to celebrate the LGBTQIA community.

Coca-Cola to launch an NFT collection

Every NFT in this collection will be unique. The NFTs also seek to add a sense of diversity and color to the LGBTQIA society and being a collectible used to spread love. The beverage company will be launching this NFT collection through a partnership with Rich Mnisi.

Mnisi is a designer and an advocate of the LGBTQIA community in South Africa. In the recent announcement, Coca-Cola said that the artwork created by Mnisi went beyond the boundaries that had been set regarding the notion of identity and the community.

Speaking about working with Mnisi, the Coca-Cola team announced that Mnisi’s NFT collection in partnership with the beverage company was a sign of resilience. Moreover, it also had all the aspects of a digital collectible, in that only one copy exists on the blockchain. According to Coca-Cola, this collection was a depiction of love in its different status.

Based on the Polygon blockchain

The company announced that this collection would be a limited edition comprising 136 NFTs. The artwork created by Mnisi to support this NFT collection will be divided into individual pieces and later distributed across the 136 collectibles. This will make each NFT item unique.

These NFTs will be created on the Polygon blockchain. Some of these NFTs have already been listed on the OpenSea marketplace, with the floor price at around 1 ETH. Coca-Cola noted that the goal behind launching this NFT collection was to boost visibility by touching on the entire scope of the community attributes and sending a message about love.

The proceeds from the sale of this NFT collection will go towards charity. The charities that will benefit from these proceeds are the ones working for the benefit of the LGBTQIA community. During the first year of the existence of these NFTs, the proceeds from the sale of these NFTs will be donated to OUT, a charity organization for the LGBTQIA community. Mnisi selected OUT as the first beneficiary of these proceeds.

OUT is one of the oldest organizations in South Africa committed to the LGBTIA community. The organization serves the community by giving them healthcare access. Moreover, it is also committed to empowering the community, and these funds will give OUT the financial support needed to support its endeavors.
