Brazilian developer targets NFT and blockchain supporters

Following his presentation, the lecturer was loudly cheered. That was a bold claim regarding blockchain’s march towards games, including some of this year’s biggest contentious developments. Many blockchain and NFT firms, notably Ripio and Lakea,  are among the event’s 2022 partners, and the event’s lineup featured presentations from those donors, including Web3 as well as the Future Generation of Gaming.

Venturelli, probably most famous for the videogame Chroma Squad, didn’t simply dismiss such discussions by naming them a nightmare: he explained in depth that they’re terrible for videogames and contradicted his long-term vision about game creation.

Venturelli told PC Gamer inside a follow-up article that the show’s blockchain advertisers are necessary to acquire their importance since they aren’t relevant.

Venturelli has since posted a tape of his lecture to YouTube, although the presentation is still in Portuguese, all the supporting materials are available in English.

The crowd was taken aback by the clever title revelation; however, Venturelli took care to check with the event’s managers first. Despite the fact that his address was bound to be provocative, the BIG planners made no attempt to edit it or prohibit him from speaking, albeit it did not go down well with several of the event’s ‘Web3’ partners. Currently, BIG still hadn’t issued an official comment on the matter; however, PC Gamer has been promised one should be issued on Monday.

Why are NFTs a disaster for Venturelli?

As Ubisoft revealed that it would be venturing further into the realm of NFTs with play-to-earn games, offering NFTs throughout the shape of headgear that players could use inside Ghost Recon, the clip received an unusually high amount of dislikes. The program was also attacked by the French bargaining unit Solidaires Informatique. Nicolas Pouard, Vice President for Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovations Lab, justified it, claiming that now the end goal is about allowing users to resale their stuff once they’re done playing.

One initial critique of NFTs and some other blockchain applications has been the energy impact of their unreliability. Solidaires Informatique criticized Ubisoft’s idea, calling blockchain a worthless, pricey, and environmentally deplorable technology. NFT initiatives, particularly, soon learned to employ terms like “environmentally clean technology” in their official statements, but neither of them address the more serious objections to their concepts. That was what Venturelli focused on in his lecture and in the subsequent conversation.

There seems to be an unsettling connection between all these revenue swindles and pyramid scams, but then there is the moral dilemma that Bitcoin represents a democratic ideal predicated on mistrust regarding authorities and other humans. That, according to Venturelli, is one of the reasons they are wasteful in the very first instance.
