BAYC creator Yuga Labs reveals the Dookey Dash challenge winner

Yuga Labs, the company behind the most popular non-fungible token (NFT) collection, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), has announced the winner of the “Dookey Dash” endless runner game challenge. The winner of the challenge is Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson, who is popular for participating in the iconic battle royale game known as Fortnite.

The winner of the challenge, Mongraal, is one of the most iconic English esports players. He is known for his role in the battle royale game “Fortnite.” He has now won the challenge put forward by one of the top companies in the Web3 industry.

Yuga Labs posted a tweet about the winner of the challenge saying, “Many have dashed, more have dookey’d but one person arrived. Congratulations to @Mongraal, the Key is yours.”

Mongraal’s win is iconic as the esports player is among the most popular gamers. It also shows growing interest in NFTs from the traditional gaming sector, as Mongraal is popular with the Fortnite game. In September last year, the company behind Fortnite, Epic Games, released an NFT-powered online creation game known as “Blankos Block Party” on the Epic Games Store.

The release of Blankos Block Party marked the first time Epic Games was venturing into the Web3 gaming industry. Nevertheless, Epic Games will join other traditional game publishers such as Square Enix and Ubisoft, which have already shown a massive interest in NFTs.

The Yuga Labs Dookey Dash runner challenge attracted more than 25,000 participants. The challenge was only open to the Bored Ape Yacht Club owners and Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT holders. Moreover, members also have a chance to mint exclusive “Sewer Pass” NFTs that can be used as a source of power within the race.

The secondary sale for the Sewer Pass NFTs reached 36,000 ETH, equivalent to around $60 million since the launch was done on January 18. The NFTs were released when Yuga Labs released the Dookey Dash challenge, saying that the gamers who attain the highest score would be eligible for a mysterious reward.

Dookey Dash game challenge rocked with criticism

However, there was criticism about this gaming challenge, with the critics saying that there were cheating claims and “boosters” where players were hired to play the game on behalf of the NFT holder, which raises their leaderboard scores. These boosters were paid between 0.25ETH when they scored at least 250,000. A 2.5ETH reward was also paid for players who scored over 700,000.

Others have said that some cheaters were using malicious tools to avoid the anti-cheating measures imposed by Yuga Labs. BAYC has applauded the players who played this game fairly, saying 2% of the scores were reset depending on the score review process.

Despite the apparent issues with the challenge, Mongraal’s win has attracted interest from across the board, with the former product lead for NFTs at Mastercard, Satvik Sethi, applauding his win.
