Argentina Football Joins The NFT Space, Launches Fan Token With Ethernity

The Argentinian Football Association (AFA) has announced a partnership with the nonfungible token (NFT) platform Ethernity. The collaboration will enable the launch of a digital collection to celebrate the forthcoming Finalissima. This is coming after the AFA announced a partnership deal with crypto exchange Binance, Bybit exchange, and fan token platform Socios. But it appears that only the Binance partnership has been sealed, with no sign of the other partners.

The Finalissima is a football match between the most recent Copa America and European Cup winners Argentina and Italy.

According to the announcement of the deal, the NFT collection will comprise two different digital designs, which will represent an iconic moment in Argentinean football. One of the designs will represent three legendary players from Argentina who are no longer active. They are Sergio Goycochea, Claudio Caniggia, and Diego Maradona.

The second piece of collectible will depict players like Lautaro Martine, Rodrigo De Paul, and Lionel Messi, who helped to score the winning goal of Last year’s Copa America. However, the availability or pricing of the collectibles was not stated.

AFA Gets Deeper Into The NFT space

AFA has shown increased interest in the NFT space. The latest partnership is also not the first time the association has been involved with Ethernity When Argentina won the Copa America, the association partnered with the firm to roll out a commemorative collection.

Additionally, Ethernity recently launched an NFT series depicting Lionel Messi titled “The Messiverse.” The project awarded a lucky buyer with an Argentine jersey signed by the legend.

The Messiverse also released 75 editions of four different NFTs, with one of them selling for a minimum of $3,790.

The Argentinean football association also has other blockchain deals. In May 2021, the association launched a fan token by partnering with Socios. The platform was also the sponsor of the country’s main football tournament and named it Torneo Socios.

But earlier in January this year, leading crypto exchange Binance came into the picture, by becoming AFA’s major sponsor in a five-year deal. The sponsorship deal takes care of the organization’s official fan token, its global sponsorship, as well as the naming rights of the professional football league.
