Nine Chronicles: A Fantasy MMORPG On The Blockchain

Officially launched in March 2021, Nine Chronicles is a decentralized Fantasy MMORPG Game. It has a huge network that is powered by the player Community. Nine Chronicles is loosely based on Norse mythology but you can also play the game as a cat.

The unlikely combination is operating perfectly since the game enjoyed a massive 600% increase in the number of active monthly users in the second quarter of 2021. In that context, Planetarium’s gaming title is growing rapidly. Nine Chronicles is an idle MMORPG that is powered by the players.

Nine Chronicles Gameplay And Lore

This game’s storyline is based on the Great War between the gods that decided to rip the imaginary nine worlds apart. Although these gods eventually stopped their conflict, the scars of that war had already begun to cause Yggdrasil, the world tree to wither.

One day, a stray cat in Midgard that wished to be reborn as a human was identified by the goddess and through reincarnation became a half-cat and half-human being. You can select among 4 paths to play the game. These paths include miners, adventurers, politicians, and merchants. Notably, the gameplay revolves around mining, playing, and governing.

The adventurers conquer the challenges, compete with other players, enhance gears, and find some new ways to play. In the meantime, as a miner, one can activate a fully decentralized world by exchanging computing resources with gold. Players can also choose to be merchants who balance supply and demand for exotic items and various materials.

In the case of politicians, their role is to issue and pass amendments for the entire world with players’ support. The Nine Chronicles game puts it:

“Play, mine, govern together: this world is yours to keep.”

This game is entirely open-source, which means that its source code is readily available for free and can be redistributed. Therefore, it is wholly governed by the players. Its gameplay comprises mining, exploration, governing, and crafting some moldable open-source adventures for the other players.

Tokens, NFTs, And Play-To-Earn

Since the unveiling of its play-to-earn portal, players who successfully refer their friends get 20 Nine Chronicles Gold (NCGs) if and when that player reaches level 20. The team added the play-to-earn feature into the game in June 2021. Moreover, the players can earn from trading items for NCGs then changing them to fiat and cryptocurrency.

In late August 2021, the game confirmed that it would host a $2 million-dollar Arena Season 0 Play-To-Earn event. The event ran from September 8 to October 6 and there were 896,000 NCGs up for grabs. During each week, there was a 112,000 NCG prize pool offered to the best 500 players, which brought the cumulative value of the rewards for the whole event to 448,000. Furthermore, there were 448,000 monthly arena awards for all of the participants.

To participate, users needed to have an access code and a character of level 17 or higher since reaching that level unlocks the arena mode. Players can then use arena tickets to participate. They were awarded 5 tickets after every six hours and would join in 20 flights daily.

Nine Chronicles is still expanding aggressively and has resources to support the expansion after raising $2.6 million in a funding round that was spearheaded by Animoca Brands. Despite the massive growth, Nine Chronicles is still in the early stages of development which makes it ideal to explore it starting here.
