Spellfire: A Collectible NFT Card Game Thriving In The Blockchain

Spellfire is described as an out-of-print collectible card game (CCG) that is rapidly being introduced and reborn as a nonfungible token (NFT) game. This fantasy-themed card game first came into existence in 1994. Sadly, it never lasted long enough, surviving around three years after it was launched before it went out of business.

With that, the Spellfire community and its many legions of fans did not have any option but to bid goodbye to the game. Notably, TSR, Inc. created the CCG game according to their popular RPG game known as Dungeons & Dragons. But, in 2006, they abandoned their trademark, enabling everyone who wishes to adopt and use their name. That is where the proponents of Spellfire come into the current picture.

Based on their official announcement, the team acquired the game’s long-dormant domain name and re-established its trademark. After getting the trademark, they started building an all-new version of the game. Moreover, they aimed to keep up with the gaming trends that change rapidly. Therefore, they decided to make a digital version of the game, coming complete with nonfungible token cards that the players could own and gain some profit from them.

With these developments, Spellfire is making a massive comeback and it is being transformed into an NFT game.

What Will Spellfire Offer With Regards To Gameplay?

Generally, the Spellfire developers wanted to create a new game with unique mechanics and lore while paying homage to the original version. The game comes with an app that integrates augmented reality cards, unique real-world cards, and NFT-powered ownership into one gaming experience.

By introducing their NFT cards, this game is offering a chance for the players to own assets and earn money while doing what they live, gaming!

Spellfire’s cards come in three varieties. First, there are the original NFT cards. Just like all of the other NFT games cards, they consist of custom artwork and extensive and elaborative descriptions. Owning the cards unlock unique and exclusive benefits and perks.

For instance, the holders will get a high-quality holographic reprint of the card they own. This operations model makes the original NFT cards the first NFTs that the owners can touch in the real world. In the meantime, there are also 1000 NFT copies of every original NFT that the other players can purchase. These are known as NFT playing cards and the owner of the original cards gets 90% of the profits made from their sales.

The Spellfire team is paying homage to the original cards while introducing their unique narratives, lore, and art.

Finally, the non-NFT cards in this game are standard-issue printed collectible cards. The cards are QR Code-based which means that the owners can only scan them on the app and then claim ownership. They can then use the Spellfire play-to-earn mechanic to upgrade the power of their copy of the card.

Notably, the QR code on each of these cards makes it easy for the users to sell their upgraded cards to other users for a profit.

The Launch

The developers have confirmed that they had already finished designing hundreds of new cards that will be used to power the Spellfire ecosystem. The first set has 115 unique designs that the players can buy in the form of NFTs. Single-handedly, they have adequate power and variety to create a complete and competitive card deck.

These cards are currently listed on OpenSea. Thus, users can now start setting up their decks before the full game’s launch.
