NPC Labs Secures Additional $18 Million, Reaching $21 Million In Total Funding

NPC Labs has secured $18 million in a financing round spearheaded by Pantera Capital. This funding will help the company discover and develop more blockchain games and help developers grow their projects on different blockchain networks.

The investment round involved backing from distinguished investors such as Mantle EcoFund, Bitscale Capital, Mirana Ventures, Sfermion, Collab+Currency, Hashed, and Makers Fund. The firm revealed that this recent funding round boosted the total investment to $21 million, counting previous Pre-Seed funding.

The Firm Will Support Financial Freedom For Players And Game Creators

The Chief Executive Officer of NPC Labs, Daryl Xu, said that in today’s highly competitive gaming realm, it takes a lot of work for game makers to get their games out. After spending a long time developing a game, the developers depend on publishers to decide if the game is good enough to support, sell, and promote.

When they do, game makers give up 70% of the profit, with the risk of the publisher stopping the game if it doesn’t make enough money. Xu stated that the company’s mission is to empower players and developers by giving them control and sharing revenue fairly.

The new investment will help NPC Labs speed up its work as a critical part of B3, a gaming system created for exploring blockchain, which runs on Coinbase’s Layer 2 network called Base.

NPC Labs was established by three ex-members of Base’s business and network development team. The firm aims to improve how games are played on the Base network, helping achieve its mission of bringing a billion users into the web3 world and supporting financial freedom for players and game creators.

Xu noted that players who grind for badges, cosmetics, and consumables face losing everything if publishing studios decide to stop support. He added that the firm mission is simple: to create fun games for everyone, including moms in Nebraska, while making blockchain benefits accessible to developers.

B3 Allows Players To Access Multiple Games Without Separate Setups

The co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of NPC Labs, Viktoriya Hying, spoke about the development. She said creating a protocol with ample liquidity and user base while maintaining infrastructure for smooth gameplay is challenging.

Hying said that game-specific application chains separate users, making the experience scattered. It’s like needing a different console and setup for each game.

She added that B3 is a universal console, letting players access many games. It fixes these issues by operating the chain and giving the needed infrastructure.  B3 comes with chain abstraction, which means users won’t have to bridge or change networks.

In the testnet phase, B3 primarily supports games created on Base, Ethereum, and various Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains. It intends to include games from other chains, such as Solana seamlessly.
