The founder of DAO Maker made a hit NFT game out of Logan Paul’s controversial project

After Logan Paul’s Crypto Zoo project had failed, the YouTuber — who is no stranger to controversy — abandoned the project. However, DAO Maker’s founder Christoph Zaknun, thought of a way to pick up the pieces and create something new and more functional, thus creating a new NFT game called Degen Zoo.

The game, created in less than a month, ended up attracting over 115,000 wallets that registered in order to join it, with pledges that exceeded $700 million.

Degen Zoo sheds light on negative impacts of human greed

Logan Paul originally announced the project Crypto Zoo back in August 2021. The game involved buying NFT eggs that would then hatch into animals. It also involved zoo tokens that would allow owners of the NFTs to earn passive income by playing the game. The project attracted a lot of people through hype, and it allegedly raised $3 million in sales of NFTs, not to mention tens of millions in zoo tokens.

Unfortunately, Paul and his project failed to deliver, and most of those who had already invested had felt that they were rug-pulled by the YouTuber. The game was labeled as a scam by countless critics, and Paul gave up on the project.

Zaknun, however, saw potential in the concept, and so he decided to build his own version, inspired by the original. His game, Degen Zoo, simulates the impact of capitalism on animal extinction. The project features a deflationary token, as well as a collection of 120 endangered species, represented by the NFT collection.

The players are meant to kill off their NFTs, thus pushing the collection closer and closer to extinction. As a result, Zaknun hopes to raise awareness of the negative effects that human greed has on the environment and wildlife. Furthermore, he pledged to donate all of the profits that the project makes to charity.

The DAO Maker’s founder is also broadcasting daily updates of the project’s progress, which has attracted the interest of more than 250,000 people so far. Meanwhile, over 3,000 players have made over 30,000 testnet transactions in mere days following the project’s release.

Paul threatened to sue, but got sued instead

Zaknun picked up the project as Paul had done nothing for over a year after raising funds for the game. Paul responded by releasing a video on YouTube, stating that Zaknun has no right to dictate the required development timeline. Of course, the YouTuber has been facing criticism for not doing anything with the project for months. One of the biggest examples came two months ago, when Coffeezilla, a self-proclaimed “internet detective exposing scams,” released a series of videos investigating Crypto Zoo and exposing it as a scam.

There are also countless investors who claim that they have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars by investing in Paul’s project, which led nowhere. In response to Coffeezilla’s videos, Paul threatened to file a lawsuit, as the other YouTuber called his project a scam. However, soon after that, Paul deleted his own video, and apologized, promising that he would not follow up with a defamation lawsuit.

Meanwhile, about a month later, Paul was the one who was sued. The plaintiff, Don Holland, filed a class-action lawsuit against the YouTuber and his project on February 2nd in the Western District of Texas, claiming that the project’s executives stole millions from game investors through a fraudulent scheme.
