F1 Delta Time NFT Game: Formula 1 On The Roll

F1 Delta Time is an Ethereum blockchain game that was developed by Animoca Brands in partnership with the motor racing championship Formula 1. This game uses fungible and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for its collectible items that can be used during its Racing Game.

Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based multinational is not new in the gaming sector. It has created many popular games and is the exclusive distributor of CryptoKitties game in China. F1 Delta Time has NFTs for rare virtual items like Drivers, Cars, Trinkets, and Racing Components for trading and collecting.

Delta Time started auctioning NFTs for the game’s rarer items including cars yearly starting in 2019. There are five official and unique Formula 1 NFTs of the ‘Apex’ rarity level:

1. Formula 1 France Edition 2019 that was sold on July 15, 2019, for $25,000.
2. F1® Delta Time’s Apex digital car “Bahrain Edition 2020” that sold at an auction for US$77,414 on December 4, 2020.
3. Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco 2020 1A was sold on December 2, 2020, for $223,000.
4. The Landmark “1-1-1” digital car collectible that was sold on May 28, 2019, for a record price of over $113,000.
5. The “China Edition 2019 Azure Dragon” that was sold on January 31, 2020, for 509 ETH.

Packaged NFT Tokens

F1 Delta Time began selling NFTS integrated into its ‘Crates’ from February 25, 2020, to March 9, 2020. As explained in its official press release:

“Crates contain a randomized assortment of collectibles. A crate can contain driver gear, car components, and tires, as well as a chance of a car or driver collectible, with the car and driver collectibles being the rarest drops available from crates.”

These nonfungible tokens feature collectible tokens based on Ethereum’s ERC-721 standard. They exist in car and driver categories. Every crate has a car, a driver, and three other related nonfungible tokens. The firm released these categories and quantities of Crates, ranging from the most common to the rarest:

The firm also said that every Crate would have up to five items. The crates are assembled based on the rarity of the NFT token and Crate prices:

If you are lucky, you will find an NFT token above its case pricing to hype up the specific sale. For instance, a ‘Rare’ crate buyer can get an item in their crate that is ranked as ‘Epic.’

These crates are priced from $20 to $500 ranging from Common to Legendary.

The Epic and Legendary Crates have official F1 cars and drivers from the 2019 season. These drivers and cars on the Common and Rare levels are the original drivers and cars exclusive to the F1 Delta Time game but not those from Formula 1 seasons.

There are also some secondary NFTs that can integrate with primary NFTs. For instance, an NFT of a glove, helmet, or boot, may attach to a driver NFT that affects the driver’s performance in a given race.

In the same context, some nonfungible tokens may attach to the car NFT, such as throttles, fenders, and side mirrors. Every item can be linked to a specific race car and also affect the car’s performance in the Racing game.

On the flip side, the fungible token is created as an ERC-20 token known as REV. REV works as a currency for race day activities.

Players can use the REV token as a currency to sort out the game entry fees to races, or buy collectible items at the race. Being a currency, REV tokens may decrease or increase in value due to their being staked during the race.

The race may reward the players with REV in case the car that they risked their REV on offers food performance at a race. This racing game is highly popular and comes with rewards that players can monetize.
