Virtua Fighter co-creator partners with NFT firm or Virtua series NFTs

The co-creator of Virtua Fighter, Yu Suzuki, has announced a partnership with a non-fungible token (NFT) firm known as OASYX. Through this partnership, Suzuki plans to create 1000 Virtua Fighter NFTs.

Virtua Fighter to work with NFT firm

A report by VGC said that these NFTs would set the ground for future metaverse avatars. Additionally, the collection will feature 11 characters from the first three games in the Virtua Fighter series.

These NFTs would be used within the OASYX creative world to generate unique and exciting experiences for players within Virtual Fighter. Suzuki noted that Virtua Fighter was a game inspired by innovation and cutting-edge technology, and the same would continue with the new integration of NFTs.

“During my time as a director at Sega, I initially developed Virtua Fighter using innovative 3D computer graphics technology, which was cutting-edge and industry-leading at the time,” Suzuki said.

The co-creator of this game series noted that it had amassed much popularity over the years. He noted that the game was currently being played by many players globally and continued attracting many fans interested in the gameplay experience.

He further said that he had conducted an in-depth analysis of the operations of OASYX. He noted that the NFT firm had a unique worldview, adding that he was delighted to integrate innovative technology within the blockchain-based NFTs offered by the firm.

As aforementioned, these NFTs will be inspired by the three fighter titles within the Virtua Fighter series. The NFTs will go towards increasing the entertainment options that are available for many gaming fans globally.

Traditional games interested in NFTs

There have been conflicting opinions in the traditional gaming industry regarding adopting NFTs and blockchain technology in games. While some gamers and game publishers have opposed the new technology, some believe NFTs could boost the gameplay experience.

Game publisher Square Enix announced plans to double down on its NFT offerings this year. The game publisher is already set to release its first NFT game, Symbiogenesis.

Symbiogenesis is a way for Square Enix to explore the blockchain gaming industry. The company has already unveiled 10,000 character NFTs that will be used within this game. The NFTs will allow players to access the unique story of each character.

These NFTs will have much utility within the game because they will also offer hints on how the players can complete quests and missions. However, the game publisher is still faced with the challenge of educating players on how to use NFTs.

The Pokémon Company is also showing interest in NFTs. Last week, the company did a job listing an expert in NFT and Web3 technology. In the job description, the company said that the executive who serves in this role would drive the future business strategy of the company and spearhead partnership deals with external developers.

Companies such as Ubisoft faced much criticism when they first integrated NFTs. However, it appears the tide is changing as interest in Web3 gaming grows.
