Reddit Releases Ubisoft’s Rabbids As Free NFTs On Its Platform

Ubisoft’s Rabbids have invaded Reddits as free non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The unique white alien rabbit creatures have been used across several games since the mid-2000s. And on a couple of occasions, they were used in several Nintendo Mario crossover games. But with the recent development, Redditors can now decorate their profiles on Reddit with free Rabbits-themed NFT avatars.

Each Digital Collectible Is Unique In Style And Appearance

Each digital collectible or Polygon NFT comes with different poses and outfits, from a smiling unicorn rabbit with a golden plunger to a grumpy knight with a plunger.

In July 2022, Rabbit users went agog on the avatars of “Snoo” NFT, an online discussion platform. Since then, it has become one of the most notable brands of NFT launches to date. As of press time, all the “Unicorn Rabbid”, and ”Plunger Rabbid” avatars have already been claimed, and according to Reddit’s website, they are now “sold out.”

The Snoo NFTs were inspired by Reddit’s humanoid alien mascot. Since it was launched, it has gained a massive market capitalization of more than $330 million. Reddit has also released more than 13 million Polygon NFTs through over 9 million unique wallets. Another interesting thing is that most of these NFTs were given as freebies to Reddit users. The total number of secondary sales for Reddit’s NFTs has also increased immensely. In nearly 300,000 transactions, Reddit’s NFTs have amassed more than $32 million in secondary sales.

Both Ubisoft and Reddit are collaborating to ensure strategic pushes toward digital ownership through NFTs. However, Ubisoft is still facing some challenges from some of its recent policies and decisions. The company was heavily criticized for its initial iterations, especially for the PC version of the Tezos NFTs for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The platform’s Chief Executive Officer stated that in terms of its NFTs, the company is still searching for a mode.

Ubisoft Shows Deep Commitment In The NFT And Crypto Sector

While Ubisoft is still facing some challenges, the company has been resilient in its mission in the NFT space. A good example of the platform’s commitment is the “Smart Collectibles” for its popular game Assassin’s Creed. The project was launched in collaboration with Reality Labs (RL) and shows that Ubisoft is not ready to give up on crypto yet.

This is also not the first time Ubisoft will be associated with bringing Rabbids into the world of blockchain technology. In 2020, the studio rolled out a crypto token game that comes with funny bunnies for the international charity organization UNICEF. Additionally, the Ethereum metaverse game, The Sandbox, also onboarded the Rabbids, making them the first Ubisoft game characters to be treated as NFTs on the platform.
