Otherdeed NFT holders participate in the Yuga Labs “Second Trip” for Otherside

Yuga Labs finalized “Second Trip” on Saturday last week, which enabled its community members to preview what is to be expected on Otherside. The Otherside metaverse is a virtual world created by Yuga Labs that is slated to launch towards the end of the year.

Yuga Labs completes “Second Trip” for Otherside metaverse

The statement issued by Yuga Labs said that the trial run that lasted for 90 minutes attracted around 7,200 players. The event saw the participation of those holding Otherdeed non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The participants were allowed to invite one guest each.

The experience brings players into a sci-fi fantasy world that integrates the elements of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) and an NFT culture. The users begin their trip by joining Infinity Space, an empty arena where the players familiarize themselves with the metaverse.

Those participating in this metaverse are known as Voyagers. The voyagers can gather in small groups and speak to each other. The community mimics real life in that the players can only speak to each other if they are in close proximity.

20 minutes after the participants joined the experience, a broadcasted message by a Bored Ape Yacht Club character divided the participants into four teams depending on their colors. The outfits of the Voyagers transformed into the assigned team colors, and the players gathered into groups.

After a while, a wormhole to the “swamp” was opened, and it transported the players to their respective team areas, where they had to complete tasks to earn points. The game featured several detectives, and the voyagers could run, fly, jump, and explore the entire virtual space.

A promising project

Yuga Labs is behind some of the most promising NFT projects, such as the BAYC and CryptoPunks. Therefore, it is expected that Otherside will also be a notable success, and the project is already attracting much interest.

Most metaverse experiences feature poor graphics, slow speeds, and virtual spaces that the players find hard to navigate. However, the Otherside metaverse is robust and user-friendly. Despite the many players participating, there was no congestion in this virtual world.

Yuga Labs’ long-term plan is to bring Web3 gaming into the Otherside metaverse. The trips given to users aim to familiarize them with the gaming environment before the official launch later this year.

The First Trip was held in July last year, where 4,600 players participated. The players who participated in the Second Trip are eligible for an Obelisk digital collectible to commemorate their adventures. The company plans to hold other future trips before the official launch to make the ecosystem easy to use once it is launched.

The Otherdeed NFTs are already a notable success. Data from OpenSea shows that these NFTs have recorded 568,607 ETH in trading volumes, which is above $1 billion. This collection has a floor price of 1.67 ETH, equivalent to around $3000.
