MyMetaverse integrates NFTs into its Minecraft and GTA 5 servers

The CEO of MyMetaverse, Simon Kertonegoro, and the Chief Financial Officer of the Enjin blockchain gaming firm, Oscar Franklin Tan, is bringing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into multiple games, such as its own Minecraft server.

NFTs into Minecraft and GTA 5 servers

In an interview with a crypto news site, the two executives shared how they connected the dots and brought NFTs into Minecraft while abiding by its terms and conditions. The move comes after the creator of Minecraft, Mojang Studios, made a public opinion opposing the integration of NFTs.

Kertonegoro further added that the rules of Minecraft on NFTs were created to protect players from the negative experiences faced by some in this sector, adding that many servers had violated the rules.

However, according to the executive, it had introduced NFTs within its servers without violating the game’s guidelines. The company achieved this by not having pay-to-win NFTs and using free-to-earn NFTs.

In the interview, Kertonegoro further explained that the goal behind the initiative was to show Mojang that NFTs could be integrated in a way that benefited the entire gaming sector. he said that while this was not a quick way for people to join its server, it was the right approach.

The CFO of Enjin blockchain gaming firm further commented on the development, saying that Enjin supported the efforts of MyMetaverse to enter into a discussion with Mojang Studios, given that the company’s NFT-supported Minecraft server had been in existence for nearly four years before Mojang Studios imposed a ban on NFTs.

The executive further said that countries like China, which are against most of the web 3.0 & crypto sector, are still supporting NFTs, adding that if NFTs can work for the Chinese government, they could also work for Minecraft.

MyMetaverse NFTs are interoperable

Besides focusing on NFTs in Minecraft servers, MyMetaverse has also paid attention to interoperability. The NFTs can be used on other popular games like its Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTAV) server and its massively multiplayer online (MMO) game dubbed Infinity Realm.

“These different games, read the user’s wallet, see that they own the NFT, and provide them different benefits in the games. In Minecraft, this NFT is a sword. In GTA, the NFT is a car, and in Infinity Realms, the NFT is a house,” the executive added.

Tan further expressed his belief that having NFTs that could be used in multiple games was an essential factor that will support the growth of the metaverse. He also added that interoperability was a big part of the community and created the metaverse foundation. He said that Enjin had had plans to build the metaverse since 2018.

Kertonegoro also commented about the NFTs supported by Efinity, a Polkadot parachain. He said that the NFTs would positively affect the entire Polkadot ecosystem. He said that the ecosystem’s growth was reliant upon innovation, and that was what MyMetaverse was offering.
