MLB Looking To Hire A Licensing Manager For Metaverse And NFT

Major League Baseball (MLB) is seeking a manager that will lead the licensing of its non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Metaverse, and Digital Games plans.

Based on a LinkedIn job posting, the role of the successful applicant will include developing and executing partnership strategies in expanding digital portfolios.

MLB Seeks To Expand Presence In NFT And The Metaverse

MLB hopes to expand its presence in wearable technology, which will be integrated into its metaverse and NFT space.

The ideal candidate will build a world-class product experience for baseball fans across the country and beyond. They will create the right access for fans, and identify platforms tools, and relationships that will improve the association’s digital drive. Additionally, the new hire will be responsible for building methods and systems that will track and measure the success of AR/VR collaborations, wearable technologies, NFT, and the Metaverse.

They will be responsible for managing all license agreements, portfolio analysis, and business development with the MLB’s commercial partner One Team when it comes to digital gaming.

The ideal candidate should also have a network of contacts across the digital licensing landscape, and being an enthusiast of baseball is considered an added advantage.

They will also be responsible for creating a draft of important paperwork, such as amendments, deal memos, and all forms of agreements. The ideal licensing manager will verify that the licensee complies with the terms and conditions of the license agreement.

Educational qualifications for the role include having a bachelor’s degree with at least 5 to 7 years of similar experience in digital and tech licensing,

MLB Has Partnered With Major NFT Platforms

MLB revealed that the position is a hybrid one where the ideal licensing manager is expected to visit New York City about three times a week.

The league is looking to expand its presence in the NFT and Web3 space with several partnership deals. The league started selling its NFTs in January this year after partnering with Candy Digital. And in May, it launched its online game after collaborating with Sorare.  According to the partnership deal with the NFT platform, fans will have the opportunity to buy and sell NFTs of their favorite players through fantasy teams.
