Manchester City To Launch NFT Collectibles To Drive More Fan Engagement

English Premier League club Manchester City has entered a partnership deal with NFT marketplace Quidd that will enable the club to release four digital collectibles.

Following the collaboration, football and NFT enthusiasts have one-of-a-kind card sets in addition to the 3D player cards they have. Additionally, a highly rare set of Signature cards will be used to cap off the Quidd season.

Quidd is one of the major NFT marketplaces on the Wax Blockchain. A division of the Animoca Corporation, Quidd has already collaborated with several major companies such as HBO and Disney.

Moe Football Clubs Embrace NFT

Several major European clubs have jumped into the crypto and BFT bandwagon. Spanish and European football giant Barcelona recently announced its plans to build its cryptocurrency, as it considers an NFT and Metaverse project down the line. Last year, Portugal’s FC Porto collaborated with leading crypto exchange Binance to launch a fan token.

Within the past week, Manchester City Fan token has surged by 36.37%. Bt it’s not clear whether the surge is a result of the NFT collection distribution.

“The opportunity to work with City immediately pressed us to do something entirely new,” Vice President of Content at Quidd, Sam Barberie, said.

He added that the club’s history spurred the need to create something that collectors and fans have never seen before. The NFT collectibles will give the fans a sense of belonging, which will bring them together as a family. Barberie said it will be more interactive to show what it means to be a City fan.

Quidd Expands Its Marketplace With Over 8 Million Collectibles

The Quidd marketplace already has eight million NFT collectibles and over 325 different brands of collectibles globally. However, while some other football clubs have embraced NFTs on Quidd, this will be the first time a Premier League club will appear on Quidd.

More clubs are thinking about new ways to engage with their fans and supporters, and NFT is providing that opportunity. Quidd says it hopes to strike more partnerships with more clubs, bringing the Metaverse and NFT closer to football enthusiasts.
